Review of the year

Over the last year, the members of the New Forest Quilt Group have been ‘beavering away’ making a range of fabulous quilted craft goods to sell and raise money for charity.

From left to right, Jenny Davies (NFQG Chairperson) can be seen presenting a ‘big queue’ for £600 to Anne Bowman (LHF Trustee) outside the hospital.

Jenny explained that

“Our group is based in New Milton and in normal times we meet every month to swap ideas, share materials and demonstrate new projects in a ‘show and tell’ session. During the COVID pandemic, we have kept up our work for a number of local charities. It’s fun for our members and we enjoy raising funds through donations, raffles and craft material sales to help others”.

In addition to their cash donation, Jenny and Denise Mangles (NFQG Treasurer) brought some extra crafty items for us to sell in the hospital foyer. You can find out more about the amazing work of the New Forest Quilt Group on their website including their appeal for ‘Linus Quilts’ (remember Peanuts cartoon!) and their ‘Quilts for Care Leavers for Christmas’ project.

Arthur England (Joint Chair of LHF) commented

“We are so pleased to work with local community groups and it’s really great to meet Jenny and Denise today to receive their donation and learn more about the work of the NF Quilt group. Thank you so much to all of your members for their hard work making crafts to sell to support the hospital and other local charities. This donation will go towards new imaging equipment that is much needed to enable the hospital to continue to improve patient assessment and care”.
