New Free WiFi to improve patient care
In February 2025 we completed a complex project working with the hospital managers and IT team to deliver a new WiFi system.
The hospital is a large and complex site, with poor mobile phone coverage. The former NHS WiFi, which was difficult to connect with, and required a new user to receive a message on their phone to connect and then to select a password to use each time they needed to go online.
New Free WiFi Benefits
The new service enables patients, carers, visitors and staff to connect quickly, with no password and no need to login every time. To enable the hospital to deliver this new service, The Friends are funding the running cost for up to three years.
The hospital installed additional Access Points to improve coverage of the WiFi signal across the building.
