Current project
The Friends have commited £940,000 to facilitate the purchase of a Toshiba 1.5 Teslar MRI Scanner some years before
its installation was originally planned. This is a major part of the £1.5m project. The machine will be located in an extension backing onto the
existing CT scanning department. Building was started on 10 August 2009 and the first patients are
expected in February 2010. It is hoped that 3,000 patients will be seen in the first year. Bringing this
facility in-house will dramatically reduce the Hospital's operating costs.
This major initiative will not only avoid local residents having to travel to Southampton and Bournemouth,
but will provide the catalyst for the development of other new medical services at Lymington. The Hospital
will become a centre of excellence for diagnostics and stroke treatment. |
